The Exocism of Emily Rose

It’s a quite old movie, but I finally got to watch it wif serene & grace ch. today at NIE amphi. Paid $3 for it. I felt kind cheated becos of the venue. Once we entered, no one checked our tix, which means we could haf juz walked in & enjoyed the show. Shockingly, the amphi has no proper nice seats (prob expected too much); only carpeted steps. The place is too bright & ambience is totally bad for watching a scary movie. Lost much of the scary effect besides the fact tat we watched it during the day. Worst thg is, the place has a weird stench of moist carpet+mac fries, becos the organizers themselves brought food in. They started the movie late, testing & trying to improve the sound system. & at the start, there were only 5 ladies when the organizers left. Lol!

Anyway, I had many thoughts after watching the movie.
It wasn’t tat scary a movie, but it got me thinking…

Science (medical treatment) vs Religion (spiritual roots)
I foresee that this is a great challenge I’ll face next time if I’m going to be a doctor, a Christian doctor. Being exposed to so many concepts, theories, philosophies & teachings, I question myself, wad is really the root of diseases? Being a TCM student & prob a future Chinese senseh, I’m kinda forced to apply TCM concepts like yin yang, five elements, attributing illness to illness of the organs, etc…. being a christian & knowing tat these concepts haf spiritual roots, and the fact tat no matter how historically/scientifically proven, I noe they’re not the Truth (The Truth comes only frm the Word of God in the Bible). This makes it even more difficult for me to study & memorise my TCM facts (in chinese somemore!) without being ‘brain-washed’ into believing that these concepts work. Even major scientific concepts like evolution, DNA/genetics, etc, are controversies to my faith. Tats probably why Christians were not advised to become Chinese physicians. It is hard to separate fact from myths, but I do believe in miracles, hence giving hope & allowing possibilities in life. I believe some illnesses haf spiritual roots, which makes it even more confusing which theory shld I be following? It is not accepted worldly yet that there’s a spiritual realm unless there’s a spiritual awakening. Hence the court case of whether Emily is killed by Father Moore, a priest who performed exocism on her, asking her to stop medical treatment becos she is not mentally ill, but demon-possessed. I’m new on the topic of exocism & personally do not agree wif its practice, but I do believe in the healing by laying of hands (tapping on the world of the Supernatural). But its done according to the will of God. The qns I asked myself today is, if I’m in the dilemma of the doctor who is a catholic in Exocism, placed in modern days, would I abandon my medical profession to perform even religious practices like laying on of hands? I guess the best solution is to perform medical treatments in the hospitals (physical healing) & healing by prayer (spiritual warfare) in churches. Haha…

God I pray today that for whatever reason u’ve placed me here & where I am now, I’ll continue to walk by faith & not by sight. Increase my faith & trust in You, no matter how long & tough the journey may seem, I find assurance & strength to know that You’re always there for me even though the world has forgotten me. You’ve allowed all things to happen for a purpose. Lead me to do Your will wif joy & love. Bless me so that I can bless others. Let me see things thru Your eyes. Give me a new tender heart for You to mold, & shape me more & more into You likeness. Teach me to take up the cross daily & die to self so that You reign in me. Show me the Revelation of the Cross, O Lord… Amen…

Characters like Emily & Father Moore are gd to emulate.
A scene shows the spirit of Emily coming out of her demon-possessed soul to encounter Mary. She asked Mary, why did the exocism failed & why did God allow so much pain? Many times I’ve questioned God why did He allow certain things to happen when it seem to be such a bad ending. Like recently after a TCM test, I really questioned God why He allowed it to be so painful if I’m really called to be placed in this course. He is real & spoke to me thru
Hebrews 10:35-36
“So do not throw away your confidence, for it will be richly rewarded. U need to persevere so that when u haf done the will of God, u will receive wad He has promised.”

Be it Christians or non-christians, surely u question why certain bad/gd things always happen to u right? Well, I’ll tell u that it is not purely luck/fate, but God exists & He willed it to happen! Juz like in the movie, Mary revealed that the exocism failed becos this happened for a purpose: to let the world know that demons exist & the existence of the spiritual realm. This is in fact a gd that God has purposed to reveal Himself to us. My non-christian frens, this may sound illogical to u, but really hope that u’ll experience & encounter God to know that He is real. My dear Christian frens, if u are in the period of suffering/trials/testing/temptation, never stop believing in God to allow thgs to happen for a good reason, although we may not see the gd in it when it happened.
So back to the movie, Emily was given a choice whether to continue to stay in the demon-possessed body so that God’s name be revealed or she can choose to die & go to the Heavenly Father. She chose to stay. Such great courage & perseverance I need to learn frm her to see God’s will done!
Father Moore, the priest who performed the exocism on Emily, was so courageous! He remained so calm in face of the demons! All by the power of the Holy Spirit! God grants u strength & wisdom when u allow Him to!

The ending was such a twist. Father Moore was sentenced to 10years jail term but suddenly the jury decided to lighten it for him to go to serve the people. Wad a blessing & miracle! So do you believe? God is waiting for you to respond to Him….

And Lord I pray…..
That I can be your vessel to reach out to my beloved frens & Dad who haf yet to receive u as Lord & Savior….
Amen…
