TOday we witnessed Singapore Table Tennis Girls' team battle on for the Gold medal with China in the Olympics. Although we lost, we still managed a Silver; first even for Spore since independence, after 48 years wait.

Dear, me & daniel chan went to the S11 coffee shop at Tamp to catch the match over dinner. Thankfully the TV sets there were tuned to Channel U for the live telecast of the match. There was no ra-ra when Spore scored. The atmosphere wasn't as high as in our NTU canteen A during the Spore vs Korea in the semifinals. Most people in the food court were busy eating, but others, like us, had our eyes glued to the tv. The match wasn't as exciting as the semifinals i feel... Maybe like what Jon said, we havent had any experience in the finals. The China players always seem to play much better after the first match, prob after some words of wisdom from their coach. But its quite an experience to be watching it outdoors as a form of "mentally" supporting the team.

I'm curious how much Spore govt will reward Li Jia Wei & the 2 others who won... At the end of it, we as students, were hopeful for a public holiday in celebration of this historical victory in the sports areana...lolz :)
